「The earth's precious reinforests are in danger.
They are becoming smaller and smaller, and the
situation is growing worse every day.
Reinforests are ancestral homes of thousands of
people who live and work there. The forests are
also the natural habitat for many rare and beautiful
animals,birds,and insects.
Reinforests contain essential plants and minerals.
For example, the Amazon reinforest in Brazil has
a richer plant life than anywhere else on earth.
Some plants are important for medical science.
One day, they might help us to cure diseases such
as cancer and AIDS.
The reinforests also affect the earth's atmosphere.
Trees and plants produce oxygen and absorb carbon
dioxide. Now people all around the world are cutting
down too many trees, and the reinforests are disappearing.
The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is
increasing. This is making the earth hotter and hotter.
So the problem affects not only the countries that have
reinforests, but also the whole world. We must act
now to save our reinforests.」
